Give Glory to God Alone — Not to the Sierra Madre
In recent days, some voices have claimed that the Sierra Madre Mountain protected the Philippines from Typhoon Huwan. Yes, mountains can affect the weather, but we must never forget this truth: creation has no power apart from the Creator.
To say that a mountain “saved” us is to give credit to something that cannot think, cannot speak, and cannot protect.
It is God alone who commands the winds and the waves.
The Sierra Madre is only part of His creation, not the source of power.
The Danger of Forgetting God
When people praise the mountain instead of praising Jesus, it becomes a form of unthankfulness, and ungratefulness toward God is a serious matter.
The Bible shows that when people give honor to created things instead of the Creator, they fall into foolishness of the heart.
To lift up a mountain as our protector while ignoring the One who truly saves is not only wrong—it is spiritually dangerous.
We must guard our hearts from anything that takes the glory that belongs to God.
Worship God Alone
Let us be clear: we must not praise, exalt, or “worship” anything except the Almighty God.
Not mountains.
Not nature.
Not human theories.
All protection, mercy, and deliverance come from Jesus Christ—the One who died to save us from sin and who continues to watch over our nation.
A Call to Gratitude
Instead of giving glory to the Sierra Madre, let us lift our thanks to Jesus, who alone deserves honor.
Let us not be ungrateful but repent.
Let us not forget the One who rescued us—both physically and spiritually.
May the Philippines never give its praise to creation, but always to the Creator. And NEVER FORGET who our Savior is.
